How To Make Steampunk Goggles For Dolls?

Table of Contents

Steampunk is an art and a genre of literature that takes old and futuristic technologies and themes. Dolls are also part of this genre, so it’s time to make steampunk goggles for dolls! Did you know that? In case you don’t, then here’s what you need to know: Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction that incorporates industrial machinery, steam power, and Victorian era fashion. It is often set in the future during the 19th century or the early 20th century. Steampunk goggles come in various designs and colors. This DIY project will show you how to make these exquisite goggles for your dolls in a few simple steps.

Supplies you need to make Steampunk Goggles for Dolls

In order to make Steampunk goggles you will need the following materials: plastic sheet (enough to cover the top of a doll head), glue, elastic band, scissors, toothpicks, and a pencil.

Step 1: Add a Black Rim to Your Goggles

First, take some black felt and cut it into a circle that is slightly bigger than the eye-hole of your goggles. Then, fiddle with it until you have a perfect fit. Next, cut out the black felt circle to make the outer edge of your goggles.

Step 2: Make the Eye Casing

First, you will need to make the eye casing. You will need two narrow pieces of paperboard that are about 2 1/2 inches wide and 3 inches long. Leave about an inch of space on each end of these pieces for you to glue them together. Next, cut off a 1/4-inch strip from one end of the paperboards and another one from the other. Fold these strips in half lengthwise and then glue them together at the top so that they form a tube.

Step 3: Paint the Eye Casing and Bottom of the Goggles

Next, paint the eye casing and bottom of the goggles with a black paint. Make sure to leave the lens part of the goggles white to give it that steampunk look.

Step 4: Glue on the Crystal Gemstones

Before you start gluing the gemstones on, make sure they are dry. For this step, you will need a glue stick and a hot glue gun.
Apply a thin layer of glue to the back of each glass gemstone. Make sure to overlap the edges in order that all of the glass gems can sit flat on the face piece of your goggles.
Use your hot glue gun to apply a thin layer of hot glue to the back of each gemstone. Apply as many layers as necessary so that it holds securely onto the face piece without any gaps or exposed areas.

Step 5: Apply the Finishing Touches

Before you finish the project, there are a few finishing touches that you should add.
– You may use rubber cement or silicone glue to attach an alligator clip to the goggles.
– You may add a few bits of scrap material or fabric and shape them into coasters. This will give your goggles a more authentic look.
– You may also paint your goggles with acrylic paints and let them dry before handling.

Conclusion

Steampunk goggles are a fun and creative way to add a little bit of color to your doll’s life. Making them is easy with a little patience and a lot of creativity. The end result is a doll that is out of this world.
