Is Arcane A Masterpiece?
To say that Arcane Steampunk is a masterpiece is a little bit of an exaggeration. However, it does have some great qualities that make it stand out from other novel genres. The first thing that makes Arcane stand out is its use of technology in a paranormal setting. It’s not just about using gadgets like crystal balls and teacups. The author also highlights the importance of having technology to survive in this world as well as her characters fighting for control over these technologies. This gives you plenty to think about while reading the book. Another quality that makes Arcane stand out is its characterization. The characters feel like they come to life and even have their own personalities and flaws. Every character has something different going on within them, which makes them much more interesting than your typical protagonist or antagonist in other books with less character depth. Then, there’s the mystery surrounding the plot—something you don’t see often in books today that are paranormal/steampunk novels! So what’s not so great about this book? Well, I suppose one complaint would be that the writing style is sometimes hard to get into at first because it can be difficult to follow what’s happening if you don’t read it often (if at all) but once you get used to it, it becomes easier to follow along with what’s happening on the pages.
